SERVICE TO COMMUNITY

In 2004, Calgary Wild Rose was recipient of the Community Service Award for the CPC Western Region.

In 2007, our club was honoured at the national level with the presentation of the Community Service Award for all of Canada.

The Calgary Wild Rose Club has a special partnership with the Women's Resource Centre which has enabled both organizations to benefit.

• Since 2003, Calgary Wild Rose has given over $150,000 to women’s health programs under the umbrella of the Women's Resource Centre, which included donations to the Breast Cancer Health Program and the purchase of equipment for the Pelvic Floor Clinic.

• In June 2006 Calgary Wild Rose gave $23,000 to REACH! – a joint fundraising initiative of the Calgary Health Region and the University of Calgary. Our gift, the largest of its kind to be presented to REACH! at that time, was directed towards a new 2-year pilot program to support the establishment of a high-risk multi-disciplinary breast cancer clinic for women.

• Calgary Health Trust staff regularly volunteer at our fundraising events.

• Calgary Wild Rose members also regularly volunteer at Calgary Health Trust fundraising events, such as the annual Forzani’s Mother’s Day Run.

It is through hands-on community service and fellowship with club Members that the mission of the Canadian Progress Club is realized.  And it feels great too!
